Are tickets good for the entire day?

Yes! Your ticket provides admission for the entire day. Feel free to arrive when the gates open and stay through the final performance.

What ages require a ticket?

Children ages 2 and under are admitted free with a paid adult. All guests above that age require a ticket. We do offer a family pass so be sure to check that out!

Can I leave and come back?

Yes. Guests may leave and re-enter the event the same day. Please be sure to obtain the required re-entry wristband or hand stamp before exiting.

Can I upgrade my ticket after purchase?

If VIP tickets are still available, you may upgrade by visiting the VIP area during the event. Upgrades are subject to availability.

Can I get a refund if I cannot make it?

No. All ticket sales are final, and refunds are not available.

Are tickets transferable?

We do not transfer tickets as we do not have a paid ticket agency handling our tickets. If you wish to pass your tickets to friends/family — please print your tickets out at home or send them for their use. Feel free to message us if you have any problems. NOTE — do not make multiple copies. Once a ticket has been scanned, any additional scans will be cause for rejection of entry.

Do you sell tickets at the gate?

Yes, tickets will be available at the gate while supplies last. We encourage purchasing online in advance to save time and guarantee admission.

What is your refund policy?

Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable to future events unless the event is canceled in its entirety. Schedule changes, weather delays, performer substitutions, or modified performances do not qualify for refunds.

Parking & Transportation

Is parking free?

Parking is free on Friday for Veterans Night. Parking on Saturday and Sunday is paid, with discounted advance parking available. Additional parking is free at Blackhawk Technical College while supplies last.

How early should I arrive?

We recommend arriving at least 90–120 minutes before the flying demonstrations begin to allow plenty of time for parking, security screening, and exploring the grounds.

Is there a shuttle service?

Shuttle service is available from designated parking areas at Blackhawk Technical College. Space is limited — please purchase in advance to ensure entry.

What happens if airport parking fills up?

There is additional parking at Blackhawk Tech; parking there is free while airport parking will have a small cost. Pre-purchase is encouraged. Once both lots are full, only pre-purchased tickets will be allowed in (event sell-out situation).

Where do VIP ticket holders park?

VIP parking is located in a designated area close to the entrance. Detailed parking instructions will be emailed before the event.

Can I bring a bicycle?

No, not for the 2026 Airshow.

Is handicap parking available?

Yes. Accessible parking is available near the entrance with a valid state-issued disability parking permit or license plate.

Is there RV or motorhome parking available?

No, due to space limitations, RV and motorhome parking is not permitted. Please leave RVs or motorhomes at campsites and bring your personal vehicle.

Weather Questions

Does the event happen rain or shine?

Yes. Pistons & Props is a rain-or-shine event.

What happens if the weather affects flying?

Safety is always our top priority. Flying demonstrations may be delayed, modified, or canceled due to weather conditions. Ground exhibits, vendors, and many attractions will continue operating whenever possible.

Will I receive a refund for weather-related changes?

Tickets are non-refundable due to weather, schedule changes, or performer substitutions. In the unlikely event of a full event cancellation, updates will be posted on our website and social media.

How will attendees be notified of schedule changes?

Any significant schedule updates will be announced over the public address system, posted on our social media channels, via email to ticket purchasers, and updated on our website.

Airshow-Specific Questions

What time do the flying performances start?

The main Airshow is scheduled for 1PM on Saturday and Sunday. Additional flying demonstrations may be scheduled throughout the day. A complete performance schedule will be posted on our website prior to the event.

Will performers fly both Saturday and Sunday?

Yes, the Airshow is scheduled both days at 1PM. However, performances may vary due to weather, maintenance, or operational requirements.

Can the airshow schedule change?

Yes, all performances may vary due to weather, maintenance, or operational requirements.

Are performer meet-and-greets available?

Performers' airplanes will be on display behind a barricade before and after the airshow. Before the airshow, performers are encouraged to meet the public and show their aircraft as time allows. Please note, due to airshow requirements, performers are requested to meet and greet but are not officially scheduled. Most performers will travel the fence lines to meet the general public, sign posters, etc.

Will there be military aircraft?

Yes! Pistons & Props features the USAF F-35A Lightning — military aircraft, historic warbirds, aerobatic performers, and civilian aviation displays are listed on the main pages. Aircraft are subject to operational availability.

Can I purchase aircraft rides?

Yes! Limited aircraft rides may be available during the event. Ride opportunities vary by aircraft and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please check the website for links to reserving a ride.

Family Questions

Is the event stroller friendly?

Absolutely! Strollers are welcome throughout the event grounds. We do recommend a heavier-duty stroller as there is a lot of grass and possible mud to traverse.

Are diaper changing stations available?

Unfortunately this is an outdoor event that utilizes porta potties. Be sure to bring changing pads.

Is there a kids zone?

Yes! Kids can enjoy bounce houses, hands-on aviation activities, interactive exhibits, and family-friendly attractions throughout the day.

Are wagons allowed?

Yes. Wagons are permitted for transporting children and personal belongings.

Is hearing protection recommended for children?

Yes. Airshows can be very loud, especially during military jet demonstrations. We strongly recommend hearing protection for infants, toddlers, and young children. There will be a limited amount of ear plugs for sale, as well as at our merch tent.

Accessibility

Is the event wheelchair accessible?

Most public areas are wheelchair accessible. Some grass or uneven surfaces may be encountered depending on weather conditions and could be challenging to traverse.

Are wheelchairs or mobility scooters available?

Wheelchair rentals are not currently available. Guests are welcome to bring their own mobility devices.

Are service animals allowed?

Yes. Trained service animals are welcome. Pets and emotional support animals are not permitted due to the large crowd and extreme noise.

Are accessible restrooms available?

Yes. Accessible portable restrooms are conveniently located throughout the event grounds.

Is there accessible seating for the airshow?

Yes. Almost the entire airshow grounds are wheelchair accessible, with wide grass areas and paths that allow plenty of room for wheelchairs, scooters, and strollers to move comfortably. While we don't have a single "designated" accessible viewing section, the layout is open enough that guests with mobility needs can choose from multiple good viewing spots around the field.

Accessible seating is available in our main viewing areas to help ensure everyone can enjoy the show comfortably. If you have specific accessibility needs or questions before your visit, please contact us in advance — we're happy to work with you to make your experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

Food & Beverage

Will there be vendors?

Yes. There will be food and drink vendors, along with a variety of merchant vendors on-site.

Can I bring my own food?

Large coolers and outside food are not permitted. Guests may bring small snacks for medically necessary needs or for small children. One unopened bottle of water is allowed per person.

Can I bring a cooler?

Small soft-sided coolers may be permitted containing small snacks for medically necessary needs or for small children. Large hard-sided coolers are prohibited.

Are water bottles allowed?

Plastic and soft-sided bottles are allowed, one per person. Large heavy metal bottles are not allowed. No water refill stations will be available.

Will alcohol be available?

Beer and other alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase by guests 21 and older with valid identification.

What payment methods do vendors accept?

Most vendors accept credit cards, debit cards, and cash. Some vendors may be cashless.

Is the airport restaurant open during the event?

Yes. Bessie's Diner will be open at the main terminal. Use the terminal parking lot if you are dining there. Note: There is NO access or event viewing from the main terminal or from Bessie's Diner. Please exit the terminal and drive to the event after visiting the restaurant.

Fly-In Questions

Can I fly into the event?

Yes, visiting aircraft are welcome. Please note space is extremely limited and we are not offering a dedicated fly-in area. Please email [email protected] to confirm availability and receive information.

Is aircraft parking or overnight parking available?

The airport has very limited parking available as we will not have a dedicated fly-in area this year. Please email [email protected] to confirm availability and receive information.

Will special arrival procedures be published?

Yes. A NOTAM will be published prior to the event with detailed arrival and departure procedures. Pilots are responsible for reviewing all current NOTAMs before flying.

Photography & Drones

Can I bring a camera with a large lens?

Absolutely! Cameras are encouraged. Photography is one of the best ways to capture the excitement of the event.

Are drones allowed?

NO. Personal drones are strictly prohibited for the safety of performers, aircraft, and guests. Anyone caught with a flying drone could face arrest and will be ejected from the event. DRONES RISK OUR AIRSHOW AND OUR EVENT. Please, leave them at home!

Can commercial photographers attend?

Absolutely! Photographers are welcome to attend Pistons & Props and capture the excitement of the event. Whether you're a hobbyist or a professional, you'll find plenty of incredible aircraft and action throughout the day.

If you plan to photograph or film the event for commercial use, media coverage, or promotional purposes, we encourage you to request media credentials in advance. Credentialed media may have access to designated media areas and additional event information.

For the safety of our guests and performers, photographers must remain in public spectator areas unless authorized by event staff, and all photography must comply with event safety guidelines.

General Questions & First Time Attending Pistons & Props

What should I wear?

Dress comfortably for the weather. We recommend comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat. Shade is limited in some areas.

What can I bring?

Can I smoke or vape at the event?

Smoking and vaping are prohibited anywhere on the event grounds. This policy helps ensure the safety, comfort, and enjoyment of all guests. We appreciate your cooperation.

How much walking is involved?

Expect to do a fair amount of walking throughout the event. Comfortable footwear is highly recommended. From one end of the event to the other is approximately 3/4 of a mile.

How long should I plan to stay?

Most guests spend 4–6 hours at Pistons & Props, but many choose to stay all day! In addition to the exciting flying demonstrations, you'll find historic and military aircraft on display, interactive exhibits, food trucks, vendors, kids' activities, and opportunities to meet pilots. We recommend arriving early to make the most of everything the event has to offer.

Where should I sit for the best view?

There really isn't a bad seat! The flight line offers excellent viewing throughout the event. Many guests bring lawn chairs or blankets and choose a spot near show center for the best view of the aerobatic performances. If you prefer extra comfort, reserved seating and VIP experiences are available and provide premium views along with additional amenities.
